The '''Academia Sylvalis''' was established in the year 715 AH as the Academia Herbalis by [[Itkova Sholet]], who appointed [[Zangrilla Sylvia]] its first director. After Sylvia's death to [[voyria]] poisoning, it was renamed to honor her. The academy was destroyed in the year 100 AA after the [[Horde]] caused the fall of [[Caanae]].

When a particularly hot summer threatened the lives of citizens of Caanae in the year 714 AH, Itkova Sholet called for scholars and herbalists to devote all of their work towards finding a way to alleviate the effects of sun allergy. When Zangrilla Sylvia and her colleagues successfully discovered the medicinal effects of [[nightshade]] and created the first [[frost]] elixir, Sholet decided to construct an academy devoted specifically to medical research, calling it the Academia Herbalis.
