In the year 403 AD, Tyther, an astrologer, alerted Aetherius to the potential collision of the moons Sukdher and Moradeim. Two weeks later, the moons did in fact collide but did not destroy the world as he had predicted. Instead, shards rained down upon the ground and were quickly gathered by adventurers. Tyther convinced many of these adventurers to turn over the shards to him so that he could attempt to create a gate that would allow travel across great distances, but his first attempt only succeeded in causing a part of a moon to fall into the Eastern Nolmines and numerous meteor showers. On a subsequent attempt, the astrologer was confronted by citizens of Antioch, who were reluctant to allow him to continue his experiments. Undaunted, he tried once again but Aronus Tal'Saraan chose to consecrate the ground with a holy blessing, revealing that Tyther had been possessed by a demon who was using the gate to escape into this world. The Antiochians tried to stop Tyther before the demon could escape, but he had already lost control of his mind and body, and so he was slain. The demon was forced to release Tyther's body, sealing the gate and trapping the demon in his own realm.
