Paran Mountains

The Paran mountain range is the lower extension of the Areish Mountains. They sweep eastward from the Areish, cupping the Shaahri Desert to the north of them. Not as tall as the Areish range, they are just as deadly. Many travellers have lost their lives attempting to cross their peaks. The Taekyon Monastery is located within this range, as well as a small underground tribe of muamrite hunter-gatherers led by Gen, their chieftain.

Notable Denizens

• Gen, the Parani chief - Despite the wear of age, this tall muamrite stands proudly, his posture and muscular form displaying the strength that would be expected from any warrior. His chest and arms are bare, the visible skin tanned and leathery, adorned with inks and ornaments of bone. Held in a makeshift sheath on Gen's back is a massive wooden spear, longer than he is tall, with an ornately carved head.
• Arai, a beautiful young Parani woman - Fine, graceful features, flowing black hair, and an alluring form make this tanned muamrite one of the most desired of the Parani. A loose, sleeveless shirt and somewhat tight pants of the same hide complement her beauty perfectly, exposing a number of decorative inkings on her bare arms. The only thing that would scare away a hopeful suitor is a small but sharp knife tied carefully at her hip.
• Illa, a small Parani girl - This small muamrite girl is rather scruffy, which smudged cheeks and short, messy hair. Bright brown eyes and a nearly perpetual smile brighten her face, a stark contrast from the grimness of most Parani. Illa's clumsy fingers fiddle constantly with a variety of bone-carved toys, and she often hums to herself as she plays.
