The residents of [[Kaln]] are mostly [[muamrite]], being predominately comprised of the
descendants of a family line that once resided just southwest of [[Antioch]], upon
the rocky fringes of the [[Shaahri Desert]]. This grand family was large and
strong, spanning several generations of talented and creative individuals. They
relished in the arts of belly dancing and sword dancing, and counted many
talented crafters among their number.
The crowning jewel of the family's talents by far was the work of their
matriarch, who had the gift to weave the most amazingly detailed tapestries
ever seen. By nimble fingers expertly wielding loom and needle, she could bring
to life in thread any scene to which she set her mind. It was later discovered
that the magickal beauty of her work was not only visual, but tangible indeed.
Her magickal abilities thus discovered and spurned by the overshadowing
intolerance of Antioch, the family was forced to flee their ancestral desert
home. | |||
The family fled west and then north following the ocean shore, finally coming
to the Aori Peninsula. Here they discovered a network of caverns piercing the
rocky face of the southern side of the peninsula, where they took refuge and
began life anew. Within this asylum has been born the community of Kaln - a
breezy, temperate paradise where the shunned and hunted can find safe harbor,
where art and magick have become artistically combined and gifted artisans
shine. This functional village still maintains the appeal of a close-knit
family, but outsiders are welcomed so long as they shed their intolerance and
strive always to support one another and embrace their own potential.
