From a scroll describing the realm of Malkav, God of Insanity:

Malkav thinks of Himself more as truly enlightened than cursed with any disease of the mind. He sees the world in different realities than most, but feels that this does not make His perceptions any less valid and perhaps it is everyone else with the disease of not being able to envision and perceive those true mysteries. However, Malkav is more than content on allowing the mortal masses to label Him as they see fit through their 'Sane' points of view. Often misunderstood, Malkav seeks to unravel the secrets of all within His sight that continually appears to elude those that do not seem to notice, nor pretend to care. His world is one of seclusion and conundrums where real truth can never be understood until all is revealed. It may be a futile and unrelenting task that only yields more questions than answers, but Malkav is determined to stay the course. Those few who seek to follow along the path of Malkav need only an open mind and a willingness to listen, learn, believe and accept that which does not follow within the parameters of the normal. Thinking outside the box, where individuality is a must as well as the willingness to use unorthodox methods to obtain your goals are qualities He values most in his potentials. In his world, intelligence is key, where ignorance will not be suffered.

History

It is believed that Malkav became the God of Insanity shortly after his awakening, after pestering Avasyu with question after question about existence and the universe. When Avasyu could take no more, He granted Malkav visions of all things ever created, imagined, and forgotten. The sheer weight of these visions drove Him to madness, but also granted Him what He considered enlightenment.

Malkav attempted to broker a meeting with the Demon Lords Slen and Visyra, seeking an alliance in which He would help destroy the other Gods in exchange for a place of power alongside the demons. The demons rejected His offer, though, and brutally eviscerated Him. Slen was injured in this attack, but would later escape battle with Zanik who sought retribution for the murder of His brother.
