Mortals first became aware of the presence of Baar during the Demon Incursions that marked the beginning of the Age of Desperation. As the Clerics prayed for help to stave the attacking Demons, Argentinus Damaun led the demons through one of the gates of the city. As they closed the gates on the Demons a white flame shot down from the sky melting the hinges of the gate and welding it shut. Though it has never been confirmed that this was the work of Baar, their belief that it was is unbending. To this day, rubble lies outside the Demon Gate of Antioch and a fire burns to keep the Demons at bay.

After the death of Avasyu, Baar appointed Himself Lord Creator of Aetherius, but found that this was not well-received by His fellow Gods or many mortals. Azaoz, who had already killed one Creator, taunted Baar about this and tried to use it as an opportunity to bring Baar over to the Demonic side of the conflict. Baar's conviction held, and so He, Vahin, and Illuminas entered battle with Azaoz, flanked by Erzabet and Aosoth. Baar and Vahin were both critically wounded and Illuminas fled, which gave Azaoz the opportunity to execute Baar. Before His death, Baar cursed the names of the Gods and called Them traitors for leaving Him to die.
