Buried in the heart of the Shaahri desert, El'Jazira has a rich history and at times finds itself among the most affluent of the townes of Aetherius. El'Jazira's origins are similar to that of the city of Antioch. A group of refugees that lost sight of the main group that fled Stavenn were led by Wahat el'Salam, ancestor of Sheik Adham el'Salam.

After weeks of wandering in the scorching desert heat, el'Salam pointed out a crop of trees which were dismissed by all as merely a mirage. el'Salam head towards the crop of trees and, when he didn't immediately return, the rest of the group followed. el'Salam was chosen to lead the building of the settlement and over the years El'Jazira thrived. The fate of El'Jazira and the fate of the el'Salam clan were one and el'Salam became a name associated with immense wealth.

The precious oasis provides El'Jazira with water for trade with other townes and cities. The desert palms are harvested to provide quality lumber by skilled laborers. The top-notch craftsmen in the towne include leather-workers and ahwhe brewers. A favorite respite of both veteran warriors and master merchants, the 'Palm of the Desert' is an ideal home for many.
