A demon named Rishi attempted to lift the Stele from the desert temple to a more prominent place atop [[Demon's Pass]]. This attracted the attention of a wizard named [[Silantor]], who desired the power of the Stele - the power to raise the walking dead. Silantor bravely fought with the demon master but was quickly dispatched, but with his dying breath, he whispered a curse and touched the base of the Stele, transforming into a [[Lich]]. As the undead began to rise up around the adventurers gathered there, they soon found themselves fighting for their lives. At last, Aleutia, the hero who had so recently been known for wielding the Hammer of the Gods, defeated the Lich Lord with the aid of her allies.

Years would pass before the undead would once again pose a threat to mortals of Aetherius. An unexpected and intense rainstorm flooded the lands, drawing attention to the village of [[Khous]], located beyond the [[Ik'taru Expanse]] on the western coast. Undead villagers of a sunken settlement were rising up from their graves, stirred by the sudden rise of the tide. A terrible undead abomination, [[Lakhild]], soon appeared on the coast, but like many creatures to threaten Aetherius, it was quickly slain by a large group of adventurers, with the killing blow being dealt by Gurn.
