Torment - Transmute

Syntax: TORMENT <flail> WITH TRANSMUTATION

This ability allows you to transmute a regular flail into a wooden one, which is necessary for all other Torment abilities.

Torment - Ravage

Syntax: RAVAGE <target> [<toxin>]

This ability allows you to inflict damage to a target with a transmuted flail.

Ravage can be used against both players and mobiles.

Torment - Gripping

Syntax: GRIP

While using this ability, you will prevent items from being knocked out of your grip.

Torment - Gripping

Torment - Raze

Syntax: RAZE <target>

This ability allows you to raze shields and rebounding auras that would block your flail attacks.

Torment - Thornsprout

Syntax: TORMENT <flail> WITH THORNSPROUT

This ability causes several thorns to sprout from a transmuted flail. The thorns cause the Ravage and Devastate abilities to cause extra bleeding, and they are a requirement for several other Torment abilities.

Torment - Parry

Syntax: PARRY <head/torso/left arm/right arm/left leg/right leg>

This ability allows you to parry attacks aimed at the specified body part. You need to be wielding a suitable weapon to use parry.

Torment - Envenom

Syntax: ENVENOM <weapon> with <toxin>

       WIPE <weapon>

With this ability, you may layer toxins on an edged weapon. Each time that weapon hits somebody, one toxin will poison your opponent, and disappear from the weapon. They work on a last-on, first-off basis, so if you put aspartame on a weapon, and then put cyanide on, the cyanide would come off first, and the aspartame second. You must have the selected toxin in a vial in your inventory. In order to get rid of the toxins on a weapon, simply WIPE <weapon>.

Torment - Devastate

Syntax: DEVASTATE <target>

This ability combines the Raze and Ravage abilities. It allows you to raze a defence and immediately inflict damage to the target, or to raze two defences at once if necessary.

Syntax: TORMENT <target> WITH ENTROPY

This attack afflicts the target with a periodically recurring fear.

This ability, as well as several others in the Torment skill, also creates a so-called "entropy effect" in the target, which inflicts damage upon hitting the target.

If the target is suffering from a burrowing thornroot, the damage will be absorbed into the root instead, where it is then unleashed all at once if enough is accumulated, or absorbed into splintered seeds - refer to AB TORMENT THORNROOT and AB DESECRATION SPLINTER for details.

Each entropy effect has a cooldown of 10 seconds. If the target is hit by the same Torment attack within the cooldown, it does not cause the effect again.

Syntax: TORMENT <target> WITH TERROR

This ability instills great fear into the target, causing him to drop his wielded items in terror if they are not secured in any way.

Syntax: TORMENT <target> WITH SCREAM

This ability stuns the target briefly. It also instills fear into everyone in the room who is not deaf.

Syntax: TORMENT <target> WITH HOUND

       HOUND STATUS
       HOUND TRACK
       HOUND RETURN
       DASH <direction>

This ability allows you to summon a demonic hound, attuned to the scent of your chosen individual (who must be in the same room as you). Once summoned, you can use the hound to travel to its quarry. Being mounted on the hound also allows you to move faster, as well as to use the Dash ability to sprint in a chosen direction.

You will summon the same hound upon each attempt, which can be customised in the usual way.

Syntax: TORMENT <target> WITH BILE

This attack afflicts the target with disloyalty, causing loyal mobiles to turn against their owner.

This ability causes the entropy effect.

This attack can be used off-balance, but it doesn't inflict any damage in this case, nor does it cause the entropy effect.

Syntax: RAVAGE <target> [<toxin>] WITH THORNROOT

Upon a successful Ravage, this ability causes one of the thornroots to split off the flail and start burrowing into the target, causing periodic increasing damage. The root will wither away after a while.

A target can only be hit with one thornroot at a time - if there already is a thornroot present, the existing one will explode, releasing the accumulated damage as described below.

While the thornroot is burrowing, any damage from entropy effects will be absorbed into the root, rather than affecting the target outright. Then, several things may happen:

- If a root accumulates no damage at all, it withers away with no effect.

- If a root accumulates less than 25%, it will release all the accumulated damage in a single outburst.

- Finally, if the root accumulates damage worth 25% of target's health or more, if will release all the stored damage, -and- evolve into a demonic seed, if the Defiler has learned the Evolve ability in Desecration (AB DESECRATION EVOLVE).

Torment - Paranoia

Syntax: TORMENT <target> WITH PARANOIA

This attack hits the target with the paranoia affliction.

This ability causes the entropy effect.

This attack can be used off-balance, but it doesn't inflict any damage in this case, nor does it cause the entropy effect.

Torment - Arachnids

Syntax: TORMENT <target> WITH ARACHNIDS

       ARACHNIDS WEB <target>

This ability allows you to summon a swarm of arachnids that will periodically attack the designated target, causing poison damage. You can also order the arachnids to web a target of your choice - this is not limited to the person that the arachnids are attacking.

The arachnids will fade away after 30 seconds. Only one swarm can be summoned at a time.

Torment - Claustrophobia

Syntax: TORMENT <target> WITH CLAUSTROPHOBIA

This attack hits the target with the claustrophobia affliction.

This ability causes the entropy effect.

This attack can be used off-balance, but it doesn't inflict any damage in this case, nor does it cause the entropy effect.

Torment - Tears

Syntax: TORMENT <target> WITH TEARS

       LICK <target>

This attack causes the target's eyes to periodically start shedding tears of blood. Each time this occurs, the Defiler can LICK the tears from the target to regain some lost health.

This ability causes the entropy effect.

This attack can be used off-balance, but it doesn't inflict any damage in this case, nor does it cause the entropy effect.

Torment - Rebuke

Upon a successful parry with a thornsprouted flail, this will allow you to fire one of the thorns at the target, causing the same effect as the Thornroot and Thornfire abilities.

This is a passive ability, it is automatically in effect if you are wielding a suitable flail.

Unlike a regular thornroot, a root fired using the Thornfire or Rebuke ability will only unleash 80% of the absorbed entropy.

Torment - Thornfire

Syntax: TORMENT <target> WITH THORNFIRE

       TORMENT <target> <direction> WITH THORNFIRE

If you have sprouted thorns from your flail, this ability allows you to fire one of them at a target, causing it to burrow into his flesh and cause periodic damage.

This ability can be used on targets within your line of sight.

Torment - Iceshroud

Syntax: ICESHROUD ON|OFF

       ICESHROUD EXPLODE

This ability surrounds you in a shroud of ice which reduces damage taken from cold attacks and has a chance to block attacks that would set you on fire. Additionally, the shroud rebounds a part of received damage back at the attacker as cold damage.

You can cause the shroud to explode, inflicting massive cold damage to everyone in the room (including allies).

Only one shroud can be active at a time.

Torment - Blooddrinker

Syntax: BLOODDRINKER [ON|OFF]

While this ability is active, you will be healed for a portion of the damage caused by thornroots from your flail. This will only work if the affected individual is at the same location as you.

Torment - Unseeneye

Syntax: TORMENT <target> WITH THE UNSEEN EYE

       UNSEENEYE <target> LOOK
       UNSEENEYE <target> LISTEN [ON|OFF]
       UNSEENEYE LIST

This ability silently summons a demonic eye to the individual in your room. The target will not be notified about this in any way. Once summoned, you can use the eye to view the target's room, or to listen to anything that the target hears.

The only way to remove the eye is by using the Discernment ability in Perception on the individual.

Torment - Hallucinations

Syntax: TORMENT <target> WITH HALLUCINATIONS

This attack afflicts the target with hallucinations.

This ability causes the entropy effect.

This attack can be used off-balance, but it doesn't inflict any damage in this case, nor does it cause the entropy effect.

Torment - Bileshroud

Syntax: BILESHROUD ON|OFF

       BILESHROUD EXPLODE

This ability surrounds you in a shroud of bile which reduces damage taken from poison attacks and has a chance to block toxins before they affect you. Additionally, the shroud rebounds a part of received damage back at the attacker as poison damage.

You can cause the shroud to explode, inflicting massive poison damage to everyone in the room (including allies).

Only one shroud can be active at a time.

Torment - Haemophilia

Syntax: TORMENT <target> WITH HAEMOPHILIA

This attack afflicts the target with haemophilia, completely preventing their blood from clotting.

This ability causes the entropy effect.

This attack can be used off-balance, but it doesn't inflict any damage in this case, nor does it cause the entropy effect.

Torment - Shadow

Syntax: TORMENT <target> WITH SHADOW

This ability summons a shadow of the individual that will follow them around, causing damage whenever the victim attempts to use any aggressive ability, as well as occasionally cause fear. The shadow is able to evade attacks made by anyone other than its victim.

You can only summon one shadow at a time. After the shadow has been killed, you cannot summon another for 30 seconds. The shadow will disappear if its target becomes unreachable for any reason.

Torment - Flameshroud

Syntax: FLAMESHROUD ON|OFF

       FLAMESHROUD EXPLODE

This ability surrounds you in a shroud of flames which reduces damage taken from fire attacks and has a chance to burn webs and ropes before they reach you. Additionally, the shroud rebounds a part of received damage back at the attacker as fire damage.

You can cause the shroud to explode, inflicting massive fire damage to everyone in the room (including allies).

Only one shroud can be active at a time.

Torment - Behead

Syntax: BEHEAD <target>

Using your flail, this ability allows you to behead another player, who must be incapacitated in some way. This is a delayed ability during which you can do nothing else.

Torment - Gutwyrm

Syntax: TORMENT <target> WITH GUTWYRM

This allows you to summon a gutwyrm demon which burrows into the target's stomach, reducing the effect of health and mana elixirs by half, as well as having a chance to cause damage each time the target eats any curative plant.

The exceptions are galingale, ginger, and toadstool, which do not cause damage, but instead weaken the gutwyrm when eaten. Each gutwyrm requires a different amount of plants to be killed - from 1 to 4 - and the only way to find out is to eat sufficient amount. Once the gutwyrm has been sufficiently weakened, it perishes.

Torment - Corrosion

Syntax: TORMENT <flail> WITH CORROSION

This ability allows you to corrode a flail, which causes any toxins inflicted by the flail to invoke the entropy effect in a target.

The cooldown effect applies on a per-toxin basis - if a player is hit by ciguatoxin from a corroded flail, further hits with ciguatoxin will not trigger the entropy effect during the cooldown, but other toxins will.
