For many centuries, the [[Muamrite]] tribes wandered the desert, their nomadic
lifestyle preserved through the generations. Though their ways of life were
similar, the different tribes warred against each other to claim food and
water, and to settle debts whose origins even the grandmothers of the matrons
had forgotten.

'''Whistlerock''' began as holy land for the tribes of the desert, and continues to
be revered by the Muamrite people. The matrons were chosen after prayer in the
caves, and many disputes came to be settled without bloodshed. In time, a few
of the tribes stayed permanently in the holy lands, protecting them from harm.
Though they have abandoned their migratory lifestyle, they still hold true to
many of the ways of their ancestors.
