Transk is one of the nine newbie areas in Imperian. The war-torn farming village is, like most newbie areas, a place where newbies may get to know the world of Imperian in safety.
The village offers a number of activities for would-be adventurers such as questing, exploring and hunting. The villagers are always on the lookout for heroes willing to aid them in their struggle against the goblin hordes.
Geography
Nestled within the hills of the Vardarian Highlands near the city of Kinsarmar, the village of Transk is a shadow of its former self. Wooden palisades surround the village, acting as the village's primary defense against raiders from Lorka'ig. Inside, the village is a cluttered collection of wooden houses and ramshackle huts erected by the recent refugees fleeing the orc and goblin raiders. There are few non-wooden structures in this village with the local church being the only building made from granite.
To the north of the village lies a small forest. The forest houses various plant and wildlife which the village makes use of as well as a destroyed farmstead in its northern corner. The farmstead acts as the base of operations for the local militia, led by Ruben and a Lorekeeper from Kinsarmar.
Culture
The once-peaceful farming village has suffered greatly from the constant raids upon it. The villagers go about their daily activities with an air of melancholy and refugee farmers from the nearby farmlands crowd the streets of the small village. The village is led by their Matron, Sinikka who still holds hope that a hero will put an end to the raids. To this end, Sinikka is always looking for adventurers willing to help save the village.
A small number of the farmers and villagers have created a local militia with the help of the Lorekeepers in order to defend the village. The militia patrols the forest north of the village diligently and act as the village's sole defenders.
Inhabitants
Transk is home to a large number of disheveled villagers who suffer greatly due to the constant raids. Many irate farmers crowd the streets after being forced to come to the village as refugees, due to the destruction of the outlying farms by the orcs and goblins. On constant patrol north of the village are armoured myrmidons.
Notable members of the village include:
- Lars, the village idiot
- Sanikka, the village matron
- Paavo, the plowman
- Asmo, the blacksmith of Transk
- Dagfinn, the handyman
- Tibean, the Village Priest
- Kerpal, the Dung vendor
Residing in the forest north of the village in the destroyed farm are Ruben and an an enarmoured Lorekeeper.
Shops
A simple farming village, Transk does not hold much in the way of stores but is known for its food markets where visitors to the village may find interesting food such as shark fillet for sale. Opposite the food market the village holds an open air market where traders such as Kerpal, the Dung vendor ply their wares to the local farmers.
Notable Locations
Notable locations within Transk include:
- The village Church
- The destroyed farmstead located in the forest north of Transk which serves as the local militia base.
- The local blacksmith, Asmo
- The Transk Food Market
Flora and Fauna
Like all newbie areas, the village of Transk contains little useful flora for adventurer conconctionists. The forest north of the village does, however, contains a variety of unique and unusual plants such as nightshade and hemlock bushes, deathcap mushrooms, apple trees and a special variety of rare green daisies indigenous to the forest.
Various animals such as squirrels, blackbirds and clever mockingbirds make their home within Transk's forest. The destroyed farms within the forest are also home to the cattle that survived the destruction of the farmsteads, such as the young lambs.
