Janus
From a scroll describing the realm of Janus, God of Seasons:
The Wheel of the Year, the Cycle of the Seasons, the Quadrivium, Lord Janus is the embodiment of the turn of the seasons, and His aspects reflect such.
In Spring, the time of rebirth and renewal, He is the Green Man, nurturing the land and calling life from the dormancy of winter with the song of His silver flute.
In Summer, the time of growth and vibrancy, He is the Emerald Lord, bringing forth the land itself to flourish and be filled with life.
In Autumn, the time of harvest of celebration, He is the Copper Prince, bringing the bounty of the land to those who love it, and bringing joy and celebration with His lute.
In Winter, the time of rest and contemplation, He is the Grey King, caring for the land in its deep sleep, and dwelling upon the thoughts of eternity and existence.
To follow Lord Janus is to Walk one's own Path, proceeding through the stages of one's own life, growing, strengthening and maturing through life, learning, and study of the Wheel of the Year itself. To Him, each person must follow their own path, yet should not harm the path of another, for that is to prevent their growth and understanding. He is also the patron of the arts, having a deep love of music and poetry, study and performance, appreciating both the subtle song of the land itself, using a part of it to further the turn of the wheel. Often, music from unseen sources will hint at His presence, hinting at perfect, harmonious melody, unheard by mortal ears. He also has a fondness for amethysts, and rumour has it that He favours the colour of violet, often framed by violet fire or light, which reflect His ageless, deep purple eyes, which His followers take comfort in the fact that they are always close, watching and caring for His chosen Walkers.
History
Janus and Cassiopeia attempted to save Zanik from death at the hands of the Demon Lord Visyra in the year 678 AD, but the God of Civilization was fatally founded and became the fourth Immortal to die. Later that year, Nytid and Aosoth appeared at the gates of Antioch, taunting the citizens and drawing the attention of Janus. The Demon Lords summoned a dark mass of energy and launched it towards the city of Antioch, but Janus called upon the powers of Spring and summoned a flock of zephyrs that blocked the attack. The Demon Lords retreated and headed towards Kinsarmar, meeting up with Azaoz, the Lord of Demons, at Janus' temple. The Demon Lords tried once again to summon a mass of powerful energy, this time aided in the effort by Azaoz. Janus used all of His strength and power to shield Kinsarmar from this attack, which left Him extremely weakened and sent the Wheel of the Year spinning wildly out of control. Each season passed one after another at a dizzying speed, threatening the entire realm. To restore balance, Janus chose to make the ultimate sacrifice and willed Himself into Eternal Winter; another God was dead.
