The Lamira are ocean dwellers originating in the mighty western ocean. The people were first discovered in the modern era when citizens from Antioch were experiencing a great drought. Sending scouts westward in search of help, the Lamira answered the call and were able to locate water within the desert for the people of Antioch.

History

When the moon of Aetherius split into three, smoke and fire rained down from the sky and forced the human dwellers of the Bardosi Forest to travel west to the Shaahri Desert. In approximately 350 AA, a portion of this group splintered off and ventured further west, settling on the coast of the western sea. They called themselves the "lami", or the "the water people". When the moon of Moradeim moved close to the surface in the year 350 AA, the lami took on an appearance that suited them, including gills behind their ears and webbings between their fingers and toes. At this time, the lami chose to live beneath the ocean, and very rarely emerged from the waves.

The lami lived at the bottom of the ocean for many years and in several diverse tribes, but a great city known as Peili dyn Lami, or "the Sand of the People", was built to unite them in times of celebration or emergency.

In the year 730 AA, a lami by the name of Pat'nesai Fasch led a small band of lami away from the ocean and back out onto the surface world, having grown discontented with the isolationist views of his ancestors. The lami began to refer to Pat'nesai's group as "lamira", or "the Second People". In turn, members of this splinter group proudly called themselves "lami-fasch".

Later that same year, the people of Antioch faced a severe drought, and so a scouting party led by Tzuzapet Azkeru, an akrabi, headed west towards the coast following tales of an ancient people who once lived there and were able to sustain themselves on the bounties of the ocean. Tzuzapet's group encountered the lami-fasch, who struggled at first to understand the Common language, but quickly picked up on it as a result of their inherently heightened intelligence.

One of the lami-fasch returned to Antioch with Tzuzapet and after several days of wandering around the desert city, they stopped and began digging at the spot indicated by the lamira. A source of water was found deep underground, allowing Antioch to survive through its drought.

Many lamirans decided to stay in Antioch, while others traveled out into the rest of the world for the first time in centuries. Pat'nesai's great-great-granddaughter, Anyissa Rhuidean led a small band of lamirans east, settling in Kinsarmar and integrating themselves into the fledgling culture of that city; those lamirans would be known as the "lami-anyissa".

A final diaspora of lamirans were led by Nikatu Kyo, whose followers traveled to the Modin Valley and the city of Stavenn in pursuit of advanced knowledge of demons and dark magick. This tribe would be known as the "lami-kyo", or "Dark People".
