Eglondes Gecnawing

Eglondes Gecnawing is a distant island where the Academia Sylvalis now resides, having been preserved throughout history after the fall of Caanae.

Notable Denizens

• Osric, the Glaeswyrhta - The stature of this middle-aged human is short and stocky, but his well-toned, muscular arms betray the fact that he gets quite a workout amidst his sedentary lifestyle. His attire is rather drab, consisting of a tunic and trousers in dirtied earthtones. A large, heavy apron drapes down in front of him, and several small tools hang off of it. There is a faint shimmer and glow about his body, and his pupil-less, crystalline eyes belie something more or less than human about him. He operates a glassworks and shop, selling spectacle frames in brass, platinum, gold, and silver, as well as mirrors and handmirrors.

The Isgars

• Eadleofu Isgar - Shorter than average, her build borders on plump. Her salt and pepper hair falls straight to just below her shoulder blades, with two strands pulled back from her face and clipped with a gem-encrusted beetle. Her nose is broad, though not overly so, and her complexion tanned. Thin, dark eyebrows arch over eyes of orange crystal. A few barely noticeable age lines crease her forehead and the corners of her mouth. Her fingers are long and slender, and they seem just a tad out of place on her matronly form. Long, loose trousers of floral silk and a navy blue shirt cover her. Around her neck hangs a golden chain from which dangle four tiny figures of varying gemstones, two of which appear to wear gemstone skirts, and her left hand bears a smooth, plain band of gold. She has a jeweler's workshop south of the Timastede.

The Stannards

• Hygelac Stannard - This older man is well-kempt, his appearance orderly and meticulous to the point of being anal-retentive. His grey hair is quite short and uniform as if recently trimmed, and his sparkling green eyes gaze outward through thin golden spectacles perched upon the tip of his pointy nose. Matching the colour of his hair, a grey tunic covers his torso, its fabric simple and unadorned. He wears a pair of plain brown trousers, precisely creased down the front and back of each leg. He is Aethel's husband and the librarian of the academy.

• Aethel Stannard, the Assistant Curator - Short, but not without presence, this older woman has a commanding air about her. She wears her gray hair short, its strands barely touching her neck. Her piercing, emerald eyes shimmer, and she wears a small monocle pinned to her blouse. The blouse is sewn from light cotton, its light green hue contrasting the darker forest green of her woolen skirt. Tiny vines of the lighter green have been embroidered upon the skirt, further emphasizing the contrast. She is Hygelac's wife and assistant curator of the academy.

• Selethryth Balman - Tall and thin, this willowy woman towers above most females of her race. Her dishwater blond hair has been swept back into a bun, each strand neatly in its place. Her scrutinizing eyes of crystalline white take in her surroundings from a face of distinctly formed features. Her cheekbones are high, and her small nose is sharply pointed. She pulls her mouth into a frown, her thin lips pursed. Her forehead is creased slightly, but it is unclear whether it is due to age or to frowning entirely too much. Perched on her nose are silver spectacles, a loose chain attached to the ends to secure them in place. She is known as a grammarian and is often found editing other researcher's work in her study near Geard Sylvalis.

The Ebvens

• Waermund Ebven, Curator of the Academia - Taller than the average human, this man towers above most. He wears a fine doublet of blue velvet embroidered with swirling lines of minute silver thread and plain, gray cotton slacks. Stately and well-dressed, he has a commanding presence and an appearance that is well-kept without being vain. At times slightly translucent and others partially glowing, his skin shimmers eerily, and his unblinking eyes appear to be emeralds.

• Winnifred Gladwyn - Stocky, but not overly so, this aged woman is big-boned and of middling height. Her gray hair is cut short such that it barely reaches her neck. Thin spectacles of platinum wire loop behind her ears and rest upon the bridge of her nose, her blue, crystalline eyes visible behind. She is the historian of the academy. She is loyal to Danaglas.

• Frithuburh Erwin - Although clad simply, this woman's radiance is obvious. Bright red hair is pulled back into a simple ponytail with a royal blue ribbon, smooth and lustrous despite the common hairstyle. Her features are soft but well-defined. Sparkling eyes of white crystal twinkle beneath dark eyebrows and modestly lowered lashes of similar hue. Her lips are full and rosy, and when she smiles, her cheeks dimple sweetly. Her ivory skin is clear and smooth, and her frame is slight and petite. She works inside a small desert biome near the Geard Sylvalis.
