From a scroll describing the realm of Danaglas, the Essence of Consciousness:

What makes you who you are? From what does sentience derive? What separates mortals from animals and other lesser creatures? These are the questions that the Astiganne, the followers of Danaglas, ask. The soul of a being stems from its Consciousness, both singular and collective. Intangible and mysterious, Consciousness arises through the interaction between Memory, Creativity, and Understanding, the triad of being. By working to grasp what has come before and what is yet to come, how the world around you can be perceived and expressed, and how it all works, you move toward your true being and enlightenment. By sharing that knowledge with others, you help to stimulate them to collective advancement and being.

Danaglas has a strange and paradoxical relationship with Consciousness in general, It created consciousness and was simultaneously created by It. Consciousness is Danaglas and this sense of being is Danaglas' gift to mortals. When the divine spark of creativity strikes and artist colours her canvas... When the curious scholar seeks to learn why... When the old man realizes where his being fits in what has come and what is yet to come... Danaglas is there.

History

Danaglas was the second of the Gods to fall before the Demonic Gods in the year 678 AD. He pledged to seal the rift that had brought the demons into the Prime Material Plane, but ended up becoming possessed by one of the Demon Lords. Aosoth destroyed Danaglas from the inside out.
