Ability Description

9.10 DEVOTION

Devotion is a statistic that only those with the skill of Devotion possess.
To see how much Devotion you have, you may PERFORM ENLIGHTENMENT. Most of
the Devotion abilities cost a certain amount of devotion points, and the
amount will generally be shown in the help files on the individual
abilities.

Gaining Devotion
----------------
Gaining more devotion points happens automatically. Once an Imperian month,
a person with the skill of Devotion gets a base amount of devotion points.

Devotion - Enlightenment

Syntax: PERFORM ENLIGHTENMENT

Devotion cost: None

When performed on yourself, this will reveal how devoted you are in the eyes of the Gods.

Devotion - Hands

Syntax: PERFORM HANDS <player> Devotion cost: 230 This ability will allow you to lay hands on another player and heal him of some damage.

Devotion - Parting

Syntax: PERFORM PARTING <direction> Devotion cost: 154 In true religious tradition, you will now be able to part the water in a location, allowing safe and dry passage.

Devotion - Truth

Syntax: PERFORM RITE OF TRUTH Devotion cost: 300 This ability allows you to detect certain types of hidden players in your room.

Devotion - Rites

Syntax: RITES No devotion cost. This ability will show you what rites are operating in your room.

Note that most rites are only functional if their owner is in the same or adjacent room as the rite.

Devotion - Sustenance

Syntax: PERFORM RITE OF SUSTENANCE Devotion cost: 2300 At the cost of some of your devotion, you may feed yourself with this ability. You need to be holding a bowl of some sort in order for this to work. Upon performing the rite, your bowl will be filled with Divine manna, which will provide you with great sustenance. Syntax: BLESS <player> FROSTSHIELD

Syntax:

Devotion cost:

  770  for the rite
  1150 for the actual pilgrimage

Syntax: PERFORM FORCE <player> <command>

Devotion cost: 3075

Using your divinely bestowed powers, you may force others to bend to your will and carry out your commands.

Syntax: PERFORM PENANCE <player>

Devotion: 925

Using this ability, you will impose a penance upon your target. While the penance remains in effect, the target will suffer from various ailments.

Syntax: PERFORM DAZZLE <player> Devotion cost: 385 This will dazzle the mind of a player and cause confusion and dizziness in him.

Devotion - Thermalshield

Syntax: BLESS <player> THERMALSHIELD

Syntax: PERFORM RITE OF RENEWAL

Devotion cost: 50% of the cost of rites in the room

This ability will reset the timers on all your rites on the room back to their initial values.

Syntax: PERFORM RITE OF WELL-BEING Devotion cost: 308 The rite of well-being is a beneficial rite to all in the room. While in it, one will not grow any hungrier or sleepier. Syntax: PERFORM PAUSE

       PERFORM UNPAUSE

Devotion cost: 150

This ability allows you to pause all the effects of all your holy Rites in the room. While paused, the rites have no effect, and their timer does not tick down.

Devotion - Convocation

Syntax:

  PERFORM RITE OF CONVOCATION
  PERFORM CONVOCATION <player>

Devotion cost:

  1540 for the Rite
  1540 for the summoning

This powerful ability will allow you to create a Rite of Convocation. Anyone in a Rite of Convocation set up by you can then be summoned by you by doing PERFORM CONVOCATION <player>, providing that player does not have certain defences set up, such as the mass salve. 575 575 | 440 480 <eb db> 0 12.83 0 T: Iniarab devotion Revitalization Devotion - Revitalization

Syntax: PERFORM RITE OF REVITALIZATION Devotion cost: 925

Syntax: BLESS <player> EARTHSHIELD

Syntax: PERFORM DELIVERANCE <player> Devotion cost: 1850 This will allow you to summon any player from within the local area, provided that the room of the summonee does not have a monolith sigil placed in it, and the summonee is not being held there by some means. 575 575 | 440 480 <eb db> 0 12.83 0 T: Iniar The sigil you carry slowly drains at your devotion. The runes you carry on your body slowly drain at your devotion. Syntax: PERFORM RITE OF SEANCE Devotion cost: 1540 This rite will periodically attempt to draw players who might be in the room but present on alternate planes of existence. 575 575 | 440 480 <eb db> 0 12.83 0 T: Iniarab devotion Cleansing Devotion - Cleansing

Syntax:

  PERFORM RITE OF CLEANSING
  PERFORM CLEANSING <target>

Devotion Cost: 770

The presence of this rite allows you to PERFORM CLEANSING <target> to instantly remove their rebounding or shield deefnce, or inflict a minor amount of fire damage. This can only be done every 20 seconds, but does not cost balance or equilibrium.

Syntax: PERFORM RITE OF PRAYER

No devotion cost.

This rite can only be performed once per an Imperian day. Upon completion, the performer gains a certain amount of devotion. This gain is somewhat affected by how many other people were present for the rite. 575 575 | 440 480 <eb db> 0 12.83 0 T: Iniarab devotion Consumption Devotion - Consumption

Syntax: PERFORM CONSUMPTION <rite type|ALL>

This ability will remove a rite from the room and give you some of the devotion used in its creation back. The amount of devotion you receive is dependent on the time left on the rite. 575 575 | 440 480 <eb db> 0 12.83 0 T: Iniarab devotion Banishment Devotion - Banishment

Syntax: PERFORM BANISHMENT OF <target>

Devotion cost: 150

This powerful ability allows you to inflict significant damage to any demon or a demonic entity, such as those called forth by Summoners or Diabolists.

This ability can be used against any demons, not merely those summoned by players. While the events leading to the Fourth Age have removed most of these demons from the lands, a practicioner of Devotion can never be too lax in their vigilance. 575 575 | 440 480 <eb db> 0 12.83 0 T: Iniarab devotion Imbibe Devotion - Imbibe

Totems and runes are a symbol of blasphemous magick and those whom use it. Call upon the gods to wipe them from the earth and be rewarded for your piety. The runes you carry on your body slowly drain at your devotion. Syntax: CONSECRATE GROUND

       CONSECRATE CHECK
       CONSECRATE REMOVE

Devotion Cost: 500

This ability will permit the devout to bless the land about them, freeing it from the ills of sudden,

unexpected teleportation. The duration of the effect depends on the affinity of the location - 

consecrations in anti-magick areas last for a long time, while those elsewhere last much shorter.

You can use CONSECRATE CHECK to discern when the consecration will fade.

You can also use CONSECRATE REMOVE to remove an existing consecration and gain a portion of the Devotion back. The amount is based on how much time is left on the consecration.

Syntax: PERFORM RITE OF CONVERGENCE Devotion cost: 500

This rite will summon one of each type of rite that you have in the land to your current location. All other extra rites of each type will be destroyed. The rites of all-sight and convocation will not be affected by the convergence.

Converging rites automatically unpauses them. Devotion - Absolution

Syntax: PERFORM ABSOLUTION <player> Devotion cost: 1540 A powerful curing ability, you will absolve the target of his sins, curing Damnation and Undeath. 575 575 | 440 480 <eb db> 0 12.83 0 T: Iniarab devotion Damnation Devotion - Damnation

Syntax: PERFORM DAMNATION <player>

Devotion cost: 6000

This terrible curse will decrease your victim's constitution and cause the victim's body to disintegrate immediately upon death, leaving no chance for resurrection. The effect will wear off after 10 minutes.

Syntax: PERFORM RITE OF BRACING [target] Devotion cost: 3850 This rite will offer a defense to the target, allowing the target to occasionally defend against attempts to overwhelm his or her will. 575 575 | 440 480 <eb db> 0 12.83 0 T: Iniarab devotion Bloodsworn Devotion - Bloodsworn

Syntax:

 BLOODSWEAR <priest or templar>
 BLOODSWORN ON/OFF
 BLOODSWORN REJECT

The bond of the bloodsworn is one of the most revered rituals of devotion-users. When a Priest and a Templar feel strongly that they wish to become one, they bloodswear to each other, and from that moment on, have the capability to bond their very souls to each other. When the BLOODSWORN ON ritual is performed by both the Priest and the Templar, their maximum health and manas will be 60% of the -sum- of both their normal maximum health and maximum mana respectively. Further, some portion of the health or mana healed by either the Priest or Templar, when using elixirs of health or mana, will also be healed on his or her bloodsworn.

As with many phenomena that grant great power unto the user, the power of the bloodsworn comes at a price. While the bloodsworn pact is activated, with BLOODSWORN ON, the mana of both the Priest and Templar will drain away. Further, and far more seriously, if either dies while Type MORE to continue reading. (72% shown) the ability is active, the other will be greatly injured. Such is the price of power.

If you wish to break your blood bond, you may do so by rejecting your bloodsworn, but be aware that you will not be able to become bloodsworn to another until the New Year.

Syntax: PERFORM REDEMPTION

Devotion Cost: 55400

Having shown their devotions to the gods, the one using this skill can call upon the gods protection from death, before death finds them. While very taxing on the user in terms of devotion, the player will be granted a second chance at life, should they perish before their time. Devotion - Flare

Syntax: PERFORM FLARE <target> [rite] Devotion cost: 600

This ability will cause one of your rites in the room to flare up and burn your target with holy fire. The rite will be used up in the process. The amount of damage caused by the fire will be slightly dependent on the amount of devotion used to create the rite.

You can optionally specify a rite to use, but the damage of the flare will be slightly lessened in this case.

There is a short per-target cooldown after this ability is used. Devotion - Lustration

Syntax: PERFORM LUSTRATION Devotion cost: 2300 This ability will turn one ingot of stehl in your inventory into one pure ingot of veritum, which may then be used by a Master Smith to create powerful weapons and armour. For each ingot of veritum used in a weapon or suit of armour, the item may be purified with one type of purification. This ability will automatically work on up to 10 stehl in your inventory. The devotion cost will be applied to each ingot.
